Workers of Paul Yu Lampshade export factory inside the Mactan Cebu export processing zone have shown the way for solidarity to resist capitalist attacks. Last May 8 they launched a wildcat work stoppage to force the management to have a dialogue with them regarding the many violations of labor standards and most of all, on the intolerable reduction of their wages through three days work rotation per week. Through their assemblies, the workers of Paul Yu decided to confront their capitalist boss. Last June 15, they once again launched a wildcat work stoppage to show solidarity against the suspension of their seven (7) colleagues because of their militant protest last month. They decided not to return to work until the management revoke the suspension of their colleagues.

A Resource-Based Economy is a system in which all goods and services are available without the use of money, credits, barter or any other system of debt or servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all of the inhabitants, not just a select few. The premise upon which this system is based is that the Earth is abundant with plentiful resource; our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant and counter productive to our survival.

In the Peruvian rural regions of Loreto, San Martín, Amazonas, Ucayali, Cuzco and Madre de Dios the war drums are sounding again, calling the people to rebel in an indefinite popular general strike that has been spreading through the countryside and the Amazon regions since 9 April and that has, since 14 may, gone on to become a call to insurgency for the people in struggle. Faced with this, the government has called a State of Emergency which has already claimed one victim, our Awajun brother Manuel Dekntai, and several arrests.

Since the beginning of human history there have always been exploiters and exploited. The great majority of humanity has been living and working in order that the minority could live in luxury and pleasure. But the exploited have always felt that this situation must be changed, they always hated their masters, caused trouble and damage to them and revolted against them whenever they could. History is nothing else but the history of the increase of exploitation and the development of the fight against it, i.e. the history of class struggle. The rest is only evasion and eyewash.
